Dear Friend,
As the 2011-2012 legislative session approaches, I have set my sights on an ambitious
agenda. I have spent a good part of my summer attending public hearings on hydro-fracking,
protecting Long Island Bus routes, working on redistricting and attending small
business summits. I am honored to have been selected to represent New York State
at the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL) in Portland, Oregon and
once again in Chicago. I was also appointed as a member of the Tri-State Transportation
Council. We had our first very exciting and productive meeting with stake holders
on funding transportation in New York State.
I thank you for your emails, phone calls, and visits. You certainly keep me hopping.
I will continue to fight to stop hydro-fracking in New York State, to finally pass
micro-stamping in New York State, work to fund necessary infrastructure improvements
in New York State, particularly in transportation. Most important, I am going to
continue to fight for Long Island’s fair share.
This session promises to be as challenging as the last. Change and progressive initiatives
are not always done by consensus rather, leadership.
I still love my job.
Best,

Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, District 16
